Urgent Appointments

  • These appointments are booked on the day over the phone, our phone lines open at 8am 
  • Phone or visit us to speak to a receptionist during our opening hours: Monday to Friday, 8am to 6:30pm

Routine/ advanced appointments

  • Book an appointment online via Patient Access or the NHS app
  • These are telephone appointments that are booked for a later date and depend on what we have open.
  • Phone or visit us to speak to a receptionist during our opening hours: Monday to Friday, 8am to 6:30pm
  • Use the NHS App to book a screening test or vaccination

Home Visits

If you are housebound and need an appointment, we will do a home visit. We will phone you first to understand what you need. To request a home visit, it’s helpful if you phone the practice on 01706 378476 after 8am as soon as possible.

Children under 12

Any appointment requests, for children under 12, will be reviewed by our team on the day.  We will then offer you an appointment if necessary. We may re-direct you to a different service on the same day.

Nurse Appointments

  • Nurses appointments include: spirometry, diabetes review, asthma review, smear test, baby immunisations, (travel) vaccines, echocardiogram (ECG) and blood tests.
  • For any of the above appointments, you can call us on 01706 378476 between 11am and 6:30pm or visit us at the surgery.

How it works

You answer a few simple questions, tell us the details of your request and any ideas, concerns, and expectations you may have. This helps us to quickly and safely understand how best to respond.
 
This will be reviewed by our team and we will get back to you within 72 hours.

If you need help with your appointment

Please tell us:

  • If there’s a specific doctor, nurse or other health professional you would prefer to respond
  • If you would prefer to consult with the doctor or nurse by phone, face-to-face, by video call or by text or email
  • If you need an interpreter
  • If you have any other access or communication needs

Cancelling or changing an appointment

If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else.

You can also complete our appointment cancellation notification request form. This can only be used if your appointment has been arranged for more than 24 hours in advance (excluding weekends and public holidays). You can also text to cancel your appointment.

GP Additional Access Services

Would you like an appointment with a GP, Nurse, or Health Care Practitioner in the evening or at the weekend when we are closed ?

If so, you can book your appointment now by contacting us.
 
Access Services are an extension of our usual service, it is not a walk-in service, and you will need to make an appointment through the practice reception. The service gives you more flexibility in where, when and how you use local health services. It helps those who struggle to get to the doctors during the week because of work and family commitments.


NOTE: Whilst you may not get to see your own doctor during these hours, and it may not be at your own practice location, the GP or Nurse you see will have access to your medical record, subject to your consent.

APPOINTMENTS ARE AVAILABLE:

Bank Holidays – Daytime
 
APPOINTMENT TYPES:
Face to Face – You will see a clinician in person and be required to go to the service location
Telephone Consultation – You will be called by one of our clinicians during your appointment time. This will be from a withheld number and you will not be required to go to the service location unless offered at the time

 

When We are Closed

Patients who need medical help when the surgery is closed but it is not a 999 life threatening emergency should call 111. 

NHS 111 is a fast and easy way to get the right help, whatever the time. NHS 111 is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Calls are free from landlines and mobile phones.

Out-of-hours services are generally busy so please think carefully before asking to see a doctor and only do so if you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens. 

In a genuine emergency you should call 999 or go to A&E. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency. 

NHS Online

111 online is a fast and convenient alternative to the 111 phone service and provides an option for people who want to access 111 online. 

Your needs will be assessed and you will be given advice about whether you need to:

  • Treat yourself at home
  • Go to a Primary Care Centre

If you need face to face medical attention you may be asked to attend a Primary Care Centre.
